The Hiking Club, IIT Delhi, with the help from the Board of Sports Association, successfully organised the second edition of AquaGrit-5K, a multi-discipline fitness challenge aimed at promoting endurance, resilience and community participation through a demanding sequence of physical activities. The event was conducted on the IIT Delhi campus on 11 May 2026, beginning at 6:00 AM.

A total of 27 participants took part in the event, including 20 men and 7 women. Among the participants, besides the students, we also had faculty members and family members from the IIT Delhi community, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for fitness-orientated campus initiatives.

The challenge tested participants across multiple disciplines, beginning with a 200-metre swim at the IIT Delhi Swimming Pool, followed by a 5-kilometre run for men and a 3-kilometre run for women along the campus jogging track. Participants then completed an endurance circuit at the Hockey Ground featuring bodyweight and strength-based activities such as pull-ups, duck walks, burpees, farmer's carry, lunges, push-ups, planks, and star jumps before concluding with a final 400-metre lap.

The event was coordinated with support from the IIT Delhi Hiking Club and the Board for Sports Activities (BSA) Office. Lt. Nikhil Singh Sumbria, Lt. Mohmed Abubaker, and Lt. Rugved played a major role in planning and executing the event smoothly, ensuring participant safety, coordination, and logistical management throughout the challenge.

Participants displayed remarkable determination and sportsmanship across all stages of the event. The women’s category saw Vidhi Singh secure the top position, followed by Chhavi Bhandari and Neha Yadav. In the men’s category, Lt. Nikhil Singh Sumbria secured first place, followed closely by Lt. Aravind and Lt. Mohmed Abubaker. The organisers highlighted that AquaGrit-5K is envisioned as more than a competition, serving as a platform to encourage discipline, mental toughness, teamwork and an active lifestyle within the IIT Delhi community.

Building on the success of its second edition, AquaGrit-5K is expected to continue evolving as a flagship endurance and fitness event at IIT Delhi, fostering greater participation and strengthening the institute's culture of health, sports and outdoor activities.
