New Delhi: The Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) of IIT Delhi, IHFC, is embarking on a transformative journey by collaborating with ten prestigious institutes in India to establish Co-Innovation Centres (CiC). This ambitious initiative aims to nurture the spirit of innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship among the youth of India. On Januray 24, 2025, in Bengaluru, IHFC’s first CiC with PES University, Bangalore, has been inaugurated.

Among the other premier institutes ready for immediate launch of their CiCs are the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) Shibpur, Kolkata; Thapar Institute, Patiala; SRM University of Science and Technology, Chennai; Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar; and many others, representing a wide geographic and academic reach.

In the near future, CiC will be further opened in collaboration with the following institutes: Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences (KITS), Coimbatore; Crescent Innovation Incubation Council (CIIC), Vandalur, Tamil Nadu; Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT), Bangalore; Delhi Technological University (DTU), Delhi; and Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi.

Vision Behind the Co-Innovation Centres

The vision driving this initiative is to foster innovation and technological growth among India’s young minds. These centers are being set up to groom and hone the skills of aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators. This will encourage them to think outside the box and create impactful solutions that address pressing market needs. Furthermore, they aim to promote research and development of indigenous deep-tech products. This clearly aligns with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, for a Viksit Bharat and Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

Through this initiative, IHFC aims to inspire India’s youth to innovate and experiment with new ideas in technology research and its translation. This is a significant step toward empowering the younger generation and equipping them with the skills to compete globally.

Speaking on this landmark occasion, Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director, IIT Delhi, stated, “We are enhancing the reach of IHFC to partners with innovation hubs across the country to create a more robust funnel of new ideas and innovations in collaborative robotics.”

Prof. S.K. Saha, Project Director at IHFC, expressed his pride in the initiative, saying, “It has been my constant endeavour and dream to provide India’s youth with a platform to ideate, innovate, and create solutions that make a difference to the world. These centers will not only promote lab-to-market concepts but also contribute to building a tech-savvy nation, creating more jobs, and offering transformative technology solutions.”

The Road Ahead

IHFC is currently focusing on establishing ten centers across key locations in India. With these efforts, the dream of an empowered and innovative young India is closer than ever.

This initiative represents a significant step toward fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, paving the way for a brighter future for the nation.
