QS World University Rankings 2022: IIT Delhi Ranking Goes Up

New Delhi: In the QS World University Rankings 2022, IIT Delhi has shown an improvement in the scores of 5 out of 6 metrics this year thereby witnessing an overall improvement in its ranking.

IIT Delhi has remarkably improved its faculty student ratio and has witnessed a jump of 24 ranks globally. The Institute has improved its perception rankings as well with an improvement of 3 and 12 ranks in academic reputation and employer reputation, respectively.

The median for Faculty Student Ratio (Faculty Staff Per 100 student) stood at 9.3, which is above the global median of 8. Similarly, the median for citation per faculty (Normalized citation per faculty member) for IIT Delhi is 111.5, which is far above the global median of 39.2.

While commenting on the QS World University Rankings 2022, Prof. V Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi said, “No rankings can be a good measure of institutional performance, particularly so, for a technology focused institution such as IIT Delhi. IIT Delhi however has a huge opportunity to further improve its rankings by focusing on perception and internationalization metrics. We shall continue to contribute to India and the World through excellence in scientific and technical education and research; serve as a valuable resource for industry and society; and remain a source of pride for all Indians. We are confident we will be able to further improve our rankings by focusing on our core strengths.”

Improved median FSR and CPR as compared to global medians

A total of 35 Indian institutes were ranked in 2022 by the QS among which there were 5 new entrants this year. Globally a total 1673 institutions were analysed and 1300 were ranked.
