New Delhi: In a significant boost to innovation and institutional development, Mr. Anant Yardi, Board Chairman and Founder of Yardi Systems and an alumnus of IIT Delhi (Class of 1968), has pledged an additional sum of INR 75 crores for a total contribution of INR [150cr] to his alma mater. The gift supports cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence as well as a major infrastructure revitalization initiative on campus.

A significant portion of the contribution has been earmarked for the Yardi School of Artificial Intelligence (ScAI) at IIT Delhi. Established in September 2020, Yardi ScAI is dedicated to advancing education and research in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science, with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary applications. These include domains such as healthcare, materials science, robotics, Industry 4.0, weather prediction, and transportation. The School brings together over 40 faculty members from multiple departments, fostering a collaborative and application-driven research ecosystem.

A part of the contribution will be directed towards IIT Delhi’s Infrastructure Renewal and Expansion Programme, a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing the campus experience and supporting future growth. The first phase of this programme focuses on the development of housing and a new academic building - critical additions to accommodate the Institute’s expanding academic and residential needs.

Mr. Yardi’s contribution marks the formal launch of this transformative infrastructure initiative, setting the stage for sustained development and modernization of campus facilities.

Mr. Anant Yardi, Board Chairman and Founder of Yardi Systems, recently reflected on his time at IIT Delhi.I am deeply grateful to IIT Delhi for the strong educational foundation that prepared me to tackle life’s challenges and pursue the many opportunities that came my way.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Rangan Banerjee, Director, IIT Delhi, said, “We are grateful to our distinguished alumnus Mr. Anant Yardi for his visionary support towards both academic excellence and campus development. His generous donation will significantly strengthen our capabilities in artificial intelligence while also enabling us to build world-class infrastructure.”

This landmark gift underscores the growing engagement of IIT Delhi’s global alumni community in shaping the Institute’s future. By supporting both frontier research and essential infrastructure, the contribution is expected to have a lasting impact on the Institute’s ability to drive innovation, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and nurture the next generation of leaders.
