                                                                                     Offers received between 1 - 15 December, 2021

While the quantity of offers and hence number of unique selections is at a record high, there has been over 45% increase in the number of offers received by the campus during this period over last year. Even PPOs received this year were highest in the last five years.

Around 180 PPOs have been received as of now and seven students have opted for deferred placements facility of the institute. Deferred placements facility is available to those students who wish to set up a start-up post their graduation. The students choosing the deferred placement option can avail placement services once within 2 years after availing this option i.e. up to 2023-24.

The quality of jobs offered in terms of compensation offered has also increased. The average compensation offered on campus this year as indicated by recruiters has shown over 20% increase. Around 80% of the students who showed interest in availing placement facilities in this phase have been recruited up to now with selections on over 350 job profiles from over 200 companies.

Top five recruiters on the campus in terms of number of offers included EXL Analytics, Graviton Research Capital LLP, HCL Technologies, Jaguar Land Rover India Limited, Microsoft. Microsoft gave the highest number of offers on the campus (around 60), while Rakuten Mobile, Japan gave the highest number of international offers.

40 international offers were received by the students across geographies spanning Hong Kong, Japan, Middle East, Netherlands, South Korea, Taiwan and US. This includes 9 international pre-placement offers as well. Last year (2020-21) students bagged 22 international offers (including 6 PPOs at international locations).

Sectorial trend data for the first phase of the placement season:

As can be seen from the chart above, most students have opted for jobs in their technical core. IT and Analytics are core to some departments like Computer Science, Mathematics and Computing etc.; companies registering under the ‘Finance’ track are recruiting for Fintech roles and companies registering under ‘Other’ sector also comprise many ‘Core’ sector companies. Further, students from management studies opted for roles in ‘Management’.

More than 400 organisationss across sectors offering 800+ job profiles have registered as of now for hiring the students. Many companies will be scheduled in the coming days. Placement season goes on up to end of May. Phase I will conclude around end of December while phase II will be conducted between January to May. Students are also allowed to reappear for placements in Phase II.

Dr Anishya Obhrai Madan, Head, Office of Career Services, IIT Delhi said: “We wish to thank and acknowledge all participating recruiting organisations for reposing their faith in our students. We welcomed recruiters hiring in new-age domains like artificial intelligence, big data and cloud solutions, design development for high volume manufacturing, machine learning, robotics etc. across core sectors in addition to the traditional profiles.  We look forward to this positive hiring trend continuing for the rest of the season.”

This year, like last year; the entire interview process was conducted in a single slot each day unlike other campuses to facilitate the right fitment both for students and recruiting organisations while providing ample time to recruiters to make selection judgements leading to better hiring decisions. The entire process was conducted seamlessly with positive feedback from recruiters on the conduct of the process.

The efforts of the entire OCS team including staff, student coordinators and volunteers coupled with the industry players across multiple domains resulted in seamless conduct of the selection processes in a virtual mode in this phase.
