• 65,000 अल्युमनी राष्ट्र निर्माण और वैश्विक अर्थव्यवस्था को को सशक्त बना रहे हैं।

नई दिल्लीः भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान दिल्ली ने आज अपना 68वां स्थापना दिवस मनाया। इस अवसर पर संस्थान ने अपनी पहली ‘अल्युमनी इम्पैक्ट रिपोर्ट’ जारी की, जो संस्थान की स्थापना से अब तक इसके 65,000 से अधिक पूर्व विद्यार्थियों की असाधारण यात्रा और योगदान को रेखांकित करने वाला एक व्यापक दस्तावेज़ है।

इस 'अल्युमनी इम्पैक्ट रिपोर्ट' का अनावरण संस्थान द्वारा आयोजित स्थापना दिवस समारोह के दौरान मुख्य अतिथि और आई.आई.टी. दिल्ली के पूर्व विद्यार्थी डॉ. गुरतेज एस. संधू (माइक्रोन टेक्नॉलजी के प्रमुख फेलो और कॉर्पोरेट उपाध्यक्ष) और प्रो. रंगन बनर्जी, निदेशक, आई.आई.टी. दिल्ली द्वारा किया गया।

डॉ. गुरतेज एस. संधू ने कहा, “पूर्व विद्यार्थियों को हमेशा अगली पीढ़ी के विद्यार्थियों के लिए रोल मॉडल के तौर पर देखा जाता है। साथ ही, वे संस्थानों को कई तरह से योगदान दे सकते हैं। यह योगदान सिर्फ़ वित्तीय सहायता, जो कि महत्वपूर्ण भी है, तक सीमित नहीं है, लेकिन यह उससे काफ़ी अधिक हो सकता है; जैसे कि मार्गदर्शन देने में, अपनी कंपनियों, अपने संस्थानों और जहां कहीं भी वे काम कर रहे हैं, उनके माध्यम से आई.आई.टी. से जुड़ने में। आई.आई.टी.  की प्रतिष्ठा विश्वव्यापी है। लोग आई.आई.टी.  दिल्ली को जानते हैं, और अल्युमनी आई.आई.टी. की इस पहचान को और सुदृढ़ करने में मदद करते हैं, जिससे विद्यार्थियों को लाभ होता है। सबसे बड़ा असर तब दिखता है जब आप बड़ी कंपनियों के सी.ई.ओ.को देखते हैं और पाते हैं कि उनमें से कितने आई.आई.टी. से जुड़े हुए हैं। औसतन, जब कोई गैर-भारतीय सुनता है कि आप आई.आई.टी. से हैं, तो वे पहचान जाते हैं। मेरे लिए, यह आम बात है। मैं नहीं जानता कि इसे मापा जाएगा या नहीं, लेकिन यह सच है।”

डॉ. संधू (एम. टेक, विद्युत इंजीनियरी, 1985 बैच) ने 'चिप टेक्नॉलजी का भविष्य और नवाचार की भूमिका' विषय पर एक व्याख्यान भी दिया। 

स्थापना दिवस पर, प्रो. रंगन बनर्जी, निदेशक, आई.आई.टी. दिल्ली ने एक प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस को संबोधित किया और संस्थान के पूर्व विद्यार्थियों द्वारा देश और दुनिया के लिए किए गए योगदान के बारे में बताया। 
प्रो. बनर्जी ने कहा कि संस्थान द्वारा जारी 'अल्युमनी इम्पैक्ट रिपोर्ट' इस तथ्य को उजागर करतीहै है कि आई.आई.टी. दिल्ली से उपाधि प्राप्त विद्यार्थियों ने 65 से अधिक वर्षों में,वैश्विक नेताओं, अग्रणी उद्यमियों और समर्पित लोक सेवकों के रूप में दुनिया भर में गहरा आर्थिक और सामाजिक प्रभाव डाला है।

'अल्युमनी इम्पैक्ट रिपोर्ट' की मुख्य विशेषताएँ

कॉर्पोरेट नेतृत्व निरंतरता (कॉर्प्रेट लीडरशिप कन्टिन्यूअम)

प्रो. बनर्जी ने कहा कि आई.आई.टी. दिल्ली का प्राथमिक उद्देश्य शुरू से ही राष्ट्रीय और अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर उद्योगों  से जुड़ना रहा है।
'अल्युमनी इम्पैक्ट रिपोर्ट' के अनुसार, आज आई.आई.टी. दिल्ली के लगभग 10,000 अल्युमनी बैंकिंग और वित्त, विनिर्माण और इंजीनियरिंग उद्योग में नेतृत्व पदों पर आसीन  हैं। इनमें से 70% अल्युमनी भारत में रहते हैं। एक हजार से अधिक अल्युमनी बड़ी और विविध कॉर्पोरेट सिस्टम्स के बोर्डरूम में कार्यरत हैं।

वैश्विक उद्यमिता और नवाचार की विरासत

अपने आरंभिक वर्षों से तकनीकी शिक्षा में वैश्विक अग्रणी के रूप में अपनी वर्तमान स्थिति तक, आई.आई.टी. दिल्ली वैश्विक 'यूनिकॉर्न' ईकोसिस्टम के लिए एक प्राथमिक इंजन रहा है। रिपोर्ट में इस संस्थान से उत्तीर्ण 2,500 से अधिक संस्थापकों और सह-संस्थापकों को उल्लेख है।

रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, आई.आई.टी. दिल्ली के पूर्व विद्यार्थियों ने आधुनिक डिजिटल अर्थव्यवस्था में चुनिंदा प्रमुख ब्रांड बनाने में अहम भूमिका निभाई है और 4.8 लाख प्रत्यक्ष रोजगार सृजन में योगदान दिया है। कुछ प्रमुख नाम और कंपनियाँ निम्नलिखित हैंः

• दीपेंद्र गोयल, इटर्नल (Eternal) के संस्थापक, जिसमें क्रांतिकारी प्लेटफॉर्म ज़ोमैटो (Zomato) और ब्लिंकिट (Blinkit) शामिल है, जो फूड टेक और क्विक कॉमर्स को नया आकार दे रहे हैं। 
• हर्ष जैन, ग्रो (Groww) के सह-संस्थापक और मुख्य परिचालन अधिकारी (सीओओ), जो भारत के फिनटेक ट्रांसफॉर्मेशन में एक लीडर हैं। 
• विदित आत्रे और संजीव बरनवाल, मीशो (Meesho) के दूरदर्शी संस्थापक, देश भर में लाखों सोशल सेलर्स को सशक्त बना रहे हैं। 
• सचिन बंसल और बिन्नी बंसल, जिनकी फ्लिपकार्ट (Flipkart) की स्थापना ने भारतीय ई-कॉमर्स क्रांति को गति दी।
• आशुतोष गर्ग, एक सीरियल एंटरप्रेन्योर जिन्होंने Eightfold.ai और Bloomreach की स्थापना की।
• ज्योति बंसल, AppDynamics के संस्थापक, एप्लीकेशन परफॉर्मेंस मैनेजमेंट में एक अग्रणी।
• ऋषभ गोयल, Credgenics के साथ ऋण वसूली के डिजिटल परिवर्तन का नेतृत्व।

रिपोर्ट में वैश्विक प्रौद्योगिकी परिदृश्य को आकार देने में महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाने वाले उद्योग जगत के दिग्गजों और उद्यम पूंजीपतियों का भी उल्लेख है, जिनमें विनोद खोसला (सह-संस्थापक, सन माइक्रोसिस्टम्स), नवीन चड्ढा (प्रबंध निदेशक, मेफील्ड निधि) और पवन जैन (संस्थापक, समसरा) शामिल हैं।

राष्ट्र के स्तम्भः स्टार्टअप की दुनिया से परे, भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान दिल्ली का प्रभाव भारतीय शासन व्यवस्था  और वैश्विक शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में गहराई से जुड़ा हुआ है। रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, वर्तमान में संस्थान के 650 से अधिक अल्युमनी सिविल सेवाओं में उल्लेखनीय उपस्थिति के साथ सार्वजनिक संस्थानों में सेवा दे रहे हैं

• 270+ आई.ए.एस. अधिकारी। 
• 100+ आई.पी.एस., आई.आर.एस. और आई.एफ.एस. अधिकारी। 
 • 250+ भारत के सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के उपक्रमों, नियामक निकायों और वैज्ञानिक मिशनों में उच्च पदों पर आसीन।

राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा में भी संस्थान का योगदान उतना ही महत्वपूर्ण है। आई.आई.टी. दिल्ली में नौसेना निर्माण विंग ने भारतीय नौसेना के लिए 700 से अधिक अधिकारियों को प्रशिक्षित किया है।

वैश्विक शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में, संस्थान की अकादमिक गुणवत्ता इसके स्नातकों की विश्व के सबसे प्रतिष्ठित विश्वविद्यालयों में पदस्थापना में परिलक्षित होती है। रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, 50 से अधिक पूर्व विद्यार्थी क्यू.एस. शीर्ष 100 विश्वविद्यालयों में संकाय के रूप में कार्यरत हैं, जबकि 300 से अधिक पूर्व विद्यार्थी अन्य आई.आई.टी. में संकाय पदों पर हैं, जिससे यह सुनिश्चित होता है कि उत्कृष्टता की विरासत आने वाली पीढ़ियों को भी प्रेरित कर रही है।

वापस देने की संस्कृति: अक्षय निधि

रिपोर्ट में आई.आई.टी. दिल्ली अक्षय निधि की सफलता पर भी प्रकाश डाला गया है, जो पूरी तरह से अपने पूर्व विद्यार्थियों की उदारता से निर्मित है। यह निधि संस्थान को स्वतंत्र रूप से अनुसंधान और बुनियादी ढांचे में निवेश करने के लिए रणनीतिक लचीलापन प्रदान करता है। वर्तमान में, निधि में 477 करोड़ रुपये के दान के वादे दर्ज हैं, जिसमे से 338 करोड़ रुपये पहले ही मिल चुके हैं।

कृतज्ञता के एक ऐतिहासिक संकेत के रूप में, आई.आई.टी. दिल्ली के 2000 बैच ने दिसंबर 2025 में अपने सिल्वर जुबली रीयूनियन के दौरान 70 करोड़ रुपये से ज़्यादा देने का वादा किया है।

ये योगदान निम्नलिखित महत्वपूर्ण पहलों को बढ़ावा दे रहे हैं:

• उत्कृष्टता को मान्यता देने के लिए 75 से ज़्यादा अकादमिक चेयर्स और 115 से ज़्यादा पुरस्कार। 
• योग्य विद्यार्थियों  की सहायता के लिए 137 से ज़्यादा  छात्रवृत्ति और अंतरराष्ट्रीय  यात्रा अनुदान ।
• मित्तल स्पोर्ट्स कॉम्प्लेक्स, यार्डी स्कूल ऑफ ए.आई. और सी.ई.आर.सी.ए. सेंटर फॉर क्लाइमेट रिसर्च जैसी  अत्याधुनिक सुविधाओं का विकास।

प्रो. रंगन बनर्जी, निदेशक, आई.आई.टी. दिल्ली ने कहा कि “1966 में 150 विद्यार्थियों से लेकर आज के 65,000 विद्यार्थियों तक हमारे स्नातक भारत की तकनीकी और सामाजिक प्रगति के दिल की धड़कन बने हुए हैं।”

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) celebrated its 68th Foundation Day today. To mark the occasion, the Institute released its first-ever ‘Alumni Impact Report’, a comprehensive document highlighting the extraordinary journey and contributions of its over 65,000 alumni since the Institute’s inception.

The Alumni Impact Report was released by Chief Guest Dr. Gurtej S. Sandhu, an IIT Delhi alum and Principal Fellow & Corporate Vice President at Micron Technology, and Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi, during a Foundation Day function organised by the Institute.

Dr. Gurtej S. Sandhu said, “Alumni are always seen as role models for the next generation of students. At the same time, they can also contribute in many ways to the institutions. It’s not always about financial support, which is also important, but it can be much more than that in terms of guidance and connecting back through their companies, their institutions, and wherever they are working to the IITs. IITs also have a huge reputation worldwide. People know IIT Delhi, and alumni help build and strengthen that recognition, which in turn benefits the students. The biggest impact can be seen when you look at the CEOs of the biggest companies and how many of them have a connection back to IITs. On average, when a non-Indian hears that you are from an IIT, they recognize the name. To me, that's generic. I don’t know if it’s going to be measured or not, but that’s the fact.”

Dr. Sandhu (M.Tech., Electrical Engineering, 1985 batch) also delivered a talk on “The Future of Chip Technology and Role of Innovation.” Dr. Sandhu has been recognized as one of the top inventors in the world having one of the highest numbers of patents. 

On the Foundation Day, Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director, IIT Delhi, addressed a press conference and spoke about the contributions made by the Institute alumni to the nation and the world. 

Prof. Banerjee said the Alumni Impact Report released by the Institute underscores how, over 65+ years, IIT Delhi graduates have transformed from students into global leaders, pioneering entrepreneurs, and dedicated public servants, creating profound economic and social footprints worldwide.

Highlights of the Alumni Impact Report

Corporate Leadership Continuum
Prof. Banerjee said the primary mandate of IIT Delhi has been to engage with the industry from the start – nationally as well as internationally. 
According to the Alumni Impact Report, today approximately 10,000 IIT Delhi alumni occupy leadership positions in Banking & Finance, Manufacturing and Engineering industry. 70% of these alumni are based in India. More than 1,000 alumni sit in the Boardrooms of large and diverse corporate systems.

A Legacy of Global Entrepreneurship and Innovation

From its early years to its current status as a global leader in technical education, IIT Delhi has been a primary engine for the global "Unicorn" ecosystem. The report highlights a staggering 2,500+ founders and co-founders who have emerged from the Institute.

According to the report, IIT Delhi alumni have been instrumental in building some of the most recognizable brands in the modern digital economy and have contributed to 4.8 lakh direct employment. Prominent names and companies include:

•    Deepinder Goyal, the founder of Eternal, which encompasses the revolutionary platforms Zomato and Blinkit, reshaping food tech and quick commerce.
•    Harsh Jain, the Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Groww, a leader in India’s fintech transformation.
•    Vidit Aatrey and Sanjeev Barnwal, the visionary founders of Meesho, empowering millions of social sellers across the country.
•    Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal, whose founding of Flipkart catalyzed the Indian e-commerce revolution.
•    Ashutosh Garg, a serial entrepreneur who founded both Eightfold.ai and Bloomreach.
•    Jyoti Bansal, the founder of AppDynamics, a pioneer in application performance management.
•    Rishbh Goel, leading the digital transformation of debt recovery with Credgenics.

The report also celebrates industry titans and venture capitalists whose influence has shaped the global technology landscape, including Vinod Khosla (Co-founder, Sun Microsystems), Navin Chaddha (Managing Director, Mayfield Fund), and Pavan Jain (Founder, Samsara).

Pillars of the Nation: Public Service and Academia

Beyond the startup world, IIT Delhi’s impact is deeply woven into the fabric of Indian governance and global scholarship. According to the report, over 650 alumni currently serve in public institutions, with a remarkable presence in the civil services:

•    270+ serving IAS officers.
•    100+ officers serving across the IPS, IRS, and IFS.
•    250+ leaders in India’s PSUs, regulatory bodies, and scientific missions.

The Institute’s contribution to national security is equally significant. The Naval Construction Wing at IIT Delhi has trained over 700 officers for the Indian Navy.
In the realm of global academia, the Institute’s academic rigor is reflected in the placement of its graduates in the world’s most prestigious universities. According to the report, over 50 alumni serve as faculty in QS Top 100 Universities, while more than 300 alumni hold faculty positions in other IITs, ensuring that the legacy of excellence continues to inspire future generations.

A Culture of Giving Back: The Endowment Fund

The report also highlights the success of the IIT Delhi Endowment Fund, built entirely through the generosity of its alumni. The fund provides the Institute with the strategic flexibility to invest in research and infrastructure independently. Currently, the fund has recorded INR 477 Crore in pledges, with INR 338 Crore already realized.

In a landmark gesture of gratitude, the IIT Delhi Class of 2000 has pledged INR 70+ Crore during their Silver Jubilee Reunion in December 2025.

These contributions are fueling critical initiatives, including:

•    75+ Academic Chairs and 115+ Awards to recognize excellence.
•    137+ Scholarships and International Travel Grants to support deserving students.
•    Developing state-of-the-art facilities like the Mittal Sports Complex, the Yardi School of AI, and the CERCA center for climate research.
