•    Five-year collaboration to focus on quantum technologies, future materials, neuromorphic engineering and electric mobility

New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) and Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) today announced they are working together on joint research programmes, creating shared pathways for knowledge development. The organisations have formalised this through a five-year Master Research Agreement (MRA), strengthening efforts to bring academia and industry closer through joint research.

The association will focus on research areas that support the future of mobility and engineering systems. These include quantum technologies, future materials, neuromorphic engineering and electric mobility, where fundamental research and applied engineering intersect to create opportunities for knowledge development and intellectual property creation. The identified themes create a clear direction for collaborative research, combining academic depth with real-world engineering needs.

Prof. Preeti Ranjan Panda, Dean of Corporate Relations at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, said, “We are pleased to partner with MBRDI in this collaboration, which builds upon IIT Delhi's commitment to enable knowledge exchange and co-creation with industry partners. Our objective is to develop solutions that address India’s mobility challenges while establishing new benchmarks for global impact.”

Mr. Manu Saale, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India, said, “This year marks 140 years since the invention of the automobile, a chapter that reflects the beginning of Mercedes‑Benz’s journey in shaping mobility. MBRDI is also celebrating a milestone as we mark 30 years of engineering excellence in India. We envision a future where academia and industry are systemically partnering to realise real-world challenges and provide meaningful breakthroughs. In that context, our collaboration with IIT Delhi is a significant leap for our legacy of innovation, helping us redefine mobility faster and better. Together, we aim to shape solutions that make a difference today and in the years ahead.”

As part of the initial phase of this collaboration, a research project in the areas of quantum sensors and battery systems is being launched under the leadership of IIT Delhi’s Prof. Nirat Ray (Department of Materials Science and Engineering), with Prof. Saurabh Saxena, Centre for Automotive Research and Tribology (CART), jointly steering the research efforts. The initiative will bring together interdisciplinary researchers from IIT Delhi and engineering teams at MBRDI to accelerate innovation through joint research, prototype development, and real-world validation, with the goal of creating scalable, high-impact technology solutions.

क्वांटम प्रौद्योगिकियों, भविष्य की सामग्रियों, न्यूरोमॉर्फिक इंजीनियरिंग तथा विद्युत गतिशीलता (Electric Mobility) पर विशेष ध्यान देने हेतु पाँच वर्षीय साझेदारी।

नई दिल्ली: मर्सिडीज-बेंज रिसर्च एंड डेवलपमेंट इंडिया (एम.बी.आर.डी.आई.) और भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान दिल्ली (आई.आई.टी. दिल्ली) ने आज एक महत्वपूर्ण साझेदारी की घोषणा की है। इस साझेदारी के तहत दोनों संस्थान संयुक्त अनुसंधान कार्यक्रमों में साथ कार्य करेंगे और ज्ञान सृजन के लिए साझा मार्ग विकसित करेंगे। इस साझेदारी को पाँच वर्षीय मास्टर रिसर्च एग्रीमेंट (एम.आर.ए.) के माध्यम से औपचारिक रूप दिया गया है, जो अकादमिक और उद्योग जगत के बीच सहयोग और नवाचार को मजबूती प्रदान करेगा।

यह साझेदारी उन अनुसंधान क्षेत्रों पर केंद्रित होगी जो गतिशीलता और इंजीनियरिंग प्रणालियों के भविष्य का समर्थन करते हैं। इनमें क्वांटम प्रौद्योगिकियाँ, भविष्य की सामग्री, न्यूरोमॉर्फिक इंजीनियरिंग और इलेक्ट्रिक मोबिलिटी शामिल हैं, जहाँ मूलभूत अनुसंधान और अनुप्रयुक्त इंजीनियरिंग का संगम ज्ञान सृजन और बौद्धिक संपदा निर्माण के अवसर उत्पन्न करता है। इन निर्धारित विषयों से सहयोगी अनुसंधान के लिए स्पष्ट दिशा तय होती है, जो अकादमिक गहराई को वास्तविक इंजीनियरिंग आवश्यकताओं के साथ जोड़ती है।

श्री मनु साले, प्रबंध निदेशक और मुख्य कार्यपालक अधिकारी (सी.ई.ओ.‌) मर्सिडीज-बेंज रिसर्च एंड डेवलपमेंट इंडिया (एम.बी.आर.डी.आई.) ने कहा, “इस वर्ष ऑटोमोबाइल के अविष्कार को 140 वर्ष पूरे हो रहे हैं। यह एक ऐसा अध्याय जो मर्सिडीज-बेंज की गतिशीलता को आकार देने वाली यात्रा की शुरुआत को दर्शाता है। मर्सिडीज-बेंज रिसर्च एंड डेवलपमेंट इंडिया (MBRDI) भी भारत में इंजीनियरिंग उत्कृष्टता के 30 वर्षों की यात्रा का जश्न मनाते हुए उपलब्धियों की एक महत्वपूर्ण कहानी रच रहा है। हम एक ऐसे भविष्य की कल्पना करते हैं, जहाँ अकादमिक और उद्योग जगत व्यवस्थित रूप से साझेदारी करके वास्तविक दुनिया की चुनौतियों का समाधान करें और महत्वपूर्ण नवाचार प्रस्तुत करें। इसी संदर्भ में, आई.आई.टी. दिल्ली के साथ हमारी यह साझेदारी हमारी नवाचार परंपरा के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम है, जो हमें गतिशीलता को तेज़ और बेहतर ढंग से पुनर्परिभाषित करने में मदद करता है। हमारा उद्देश्य साथ मिलकर ऐसे समाधान विकसित करना है, जो वर्तमान और भविष्य के लिए सार्थक बदलाव ला सकें।”

इस साझेदारी के प्रारंभिक चरण के तहत, क्वांटम सेंसर और बैटरी सिस्टम के क्षेत्रों में एक अनुसंधान परियोजना शुरू की जा रही है जिसका नेतृत्व प्रो. निरत रे (पदार्थ विज्ञान और इंजीनियरिंग विभाग), आई.आई.टी दिल्ली कर रहीं हैं और उनके साथ प्रो. सौरभ सक्सेना (ऑटोमेटिव अनुसंधान और ट्राइबोलॉजी सेंटर), आई.आई.टी दिल्ली, संयुक्त रूप से अनुसंधान प्रयासों का मार्गदर्शन कर रहे हैं। यह पहल बड़े पैमाने पर लागू होने वाली, उच्च प्रभाव वाली तकनीकी समाधान तैयार करने के उद्देश्य से आई.आई.टी. दिल्ली के अंतःविषय अनुसंधानकर्ताओं और मर्सिडीज-बेंज रिसर्च एंड डेवलपमेंट इंडिया (एम.बी.आर.डी.आई.) की इंजीनियरिंग टीमों को एक साथ लाएगी, ताकि संयुक्त अनुसंधान, प्रोटोटाइप विकास और वास्तविक दुनिया में परीक्षण के माध्यम से नवाचार को तेज़ किया जा सके।
