New Delhi: HORIBA India, a subsidiary of the HORIBA Group, based in Kyoto, Japan, has signed an MoU with IIT Delhi to support three technical development research projects under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

The three projects include the development of a low-cost, high-torque density reduced rare-earth magnet-based EV motor; 3D printing of smart fabrics and innovative design prototypes; and the development of an intermediate-temperature proton-conducting solid oxide electrolysis cell (H-SOEC) for green hydrogen generation.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Preeti Ranjan Panda, Dean, Corporate Relations, IIT Delhi, and Dr. Rajeev Gautam, Senior Corporate Officer, HORIBA Ltd., Japan, and President of HORIBA India, in the presence of Dr. Sagar Sarkar, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering, IIT Delhi, and PI for the EV Motor project, and Prof. Saptarshi Basak, Centre for Automotive Research and Tribology (CART), IIT Delhi, and PI for the 3D printing project. Prof. Suddhasatwa Basu, Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Delhi, will be the PI for the green hydrogen project.

New Delhi-headquartered HORIBA India is engaged in three business verticals, including Energy and Environment, Bio and Healthcare and Materials and Semiconductor.

Speaking about the MoU with IIT Delhi, Dr. Rajeev Gautam, President of HORIBA India, said, “We are glad to collaborate with IIT Delhi, a highly impactful institute in the field of engineering and technology, to support the three research and development projects. These three projects are not only a push towards supporting modern technologies but also enable us to strongly contribute towards scientific skill development by uplifting the education methods and availability of modern equipment for the budding generation.”
