A Design Exhibition Under Design for Bharat—Youth Innovation Challenge 2026 Held at IIT Delhi

New Delhi: A design exhibition was held at IIT Delhi, under a national design challenge, “Design for Bharat—Youth Innovation Challenge 2026.” A total of 19 teams from Delhi showcased their work through posters, models, and prototypes. IIT Delhi has been a nodal institute for the state of Delhi for the Design for Bharat competition.

As part of the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) 2026 initiative, the Design for Bharat has been launched as a national design challenge by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports to inspire young people to shape India’s future through creativity and innovation.

Open to youth aged 18–29, the competition invited participants to design solutions rooted in India’s realities. The challenge aims to inspire innovations aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 while encouraging teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking across India’s diverse contexts.

There were 50-plus entries fulfilling the evaluation criteria set for the competition in Delhi. Out of these, 19 top entries were selected for evaluation by an eminent jury panel in the first round and were invited to exhibit their work at the IIT Delhi campus on 2nd January 2026.

The jury consisted of faculty and designers renowned in the field of design and practicing in Delhi NCR.

The jury further evaluated the 19 entries based on several parameters established for evaluation and selected the following three entries, which were recommended for the next round at the national level.

·         Project COSMO: School of Planning & Architecture, New Delhi
·         Unsupervised learners: Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Information Technology
·         Project Nitara: Miranda House

Shri Salil Kumar Agarwal (IOFS 2007), Director, MY Bharat; Shri Abhay Sankar SR, Deputy Director, MY Bharat; and Shri Jayant Singhal, Programme Executive, MY Bharat visited the exhibition.

Prof. Parag Anand Meshram (Associate Professor, SPA Delhi); Prof. Shankha Suvro Ghosh (Assistant Professor, UPID Noida); and Prof. Charu Monga (Assistant Professor, Design Dept., IIT Delhi) also reviewed the exhibition.

Prof. Sumer Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Design, IIT Delhi, who coordinated the exhibition as a nodal officer from IIT Delhi, said, “This event is a wonderful initiative in the domain of design, which will boost the enthusiasm of design students across the country. IIT Delhi, as a nodal institute, also extends its thanks to the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, for their support, which ensured a successful exhibition.”
