IIT Delhi and Sonacomstar join hands to support innovative startups

IIT Delhi’s FITT, India's foremost technology transfer organisation, and Sona Comstar, a multinational automotive major have signed a multi-year agreement wherein Sona Comstar shall support innovative IIT Delhi startups with funds and mentorship.

Startups working in the area of e-mobility can apply under this program. Each selected startup can get upto Rs 80 lakh grant with the option to retain its IP.

This is a first of its kind industry support programme in the important area of mobility.

Mr Kiran Deshmukh, Chief Technology Officer of Sona Comstar and one who is a strong proponent of industry-academia collaboration, is hopeful that this partnership will enable creation of new IP and innovative "Make-in-India products".

Prof. V Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi exuded confidence in the partnership and remarked "IIT Delhi wants to engage with the industry to strengthen startup programmes in academia as this is a good way to quickly bring new technologies to market".

For Dr. Anil Wali, MD, FITT who sees a lot of promise in the mobility sector, such programmes create interesting opportunities for innovation and also help in the design and development of indigenous technologies.
