Other than these, almost every hostel in the campus has its own night canteen and a small shop for daily needs. The timings for shop is 9am to 8pm, if the hostel has a night canteen its timimgs are 10pm to 1am.

There are two shopping areas on campus -- IITD market near the Kendriya Vidyalaya and Nalanda shops near Nalanda apartments. These house multiple stores selling groceries (including Kendriya Bhandar), fresh vegetables and fruits (including Safal), and dairy shops (including Mother dairy). There are also tailor shops, hair salons, stationary stores, a dry-cleaner, an electricals store, and a post-office. Here is a list of shops (not all are in those two complexes):

More on Campus

Laundry and Ironing: Xpress Laundromat is located near Aravali hostel. They support online orders through the Alluzo mobile app. They can be reached at xliitdelhi@gmail.com (Tel: +91 8448 36 2772). Other ironing joints are available on campus (See map). They are happy to collect clothes from homes and deliver back the ironed clothes.

Music and Dance lessons in SAC (Different instructors are available from time to time, as organized by the community. You will receive occasional circulars. You may also enquire at SAC reception counter.

Regular cultural events are organized by students, student and faculty clubs, Spic Macay, etc. There also exist interest groups on yoga, meditation, sports, etc. Look out for circular emails to join such groups.

Getting Around

One of the perks of living on campus is you can walk to work and become Carbon Neutral. Nonetheless, the campus is long, and summers are hot. Many bike to work. There are ample bicycle racks. There also are bike (manual and electric) renting stations (near gates, hostels, hospital, etc.). Solar-powered rickshaws are also available, although in small numbers. If none of these work for you, and you do not mind leaving a bit of Carbon footprint, driving is permitted in most areas. Parking is available, if tight. You will need a resident parking sticker (to keep your vehicle overnight inside the campus). IIT Delhi security issues these stickers. You will need to apply on ERP services with proof of ownership.

Sitaram Bhartia is good (if a bit expensive, but they are recognized by IITD and they do offer an IITD discount, please carry your medical booklet)

Neptune hospital near Geetanjali is popular among IIT Delhi folks, particularly for pediatric care (Dr. Kanwar)

Mahajan Imaging (in SDA area across from the main gate, they offer IITD discount, and are recognized by IITD.)
