Postgraduate Section looks after all academic matters related to the Post graduate Students admitted to the MTech, MSc, MBA Degree, PhD Programme and MSR Programme.

The Section handles all activities related to the registration of the students, exam support functions, grading & graduation, self study, exchange studentship, casual studentship, summer research fellowship ,issuance of transcripts, PhD students course work and comprehensive information, maintaining files with respect to correspondence with external supervisor for thesis supervision, verification of credential of graduated or existing students.

The Section also takes care of the scholarships & awards of the students, merit certificates, railway and bus concession. Various certificates like character certificates, migration certificate, bonafide certificates etc. are issued by the Section.

Undergraduate Section looks after all academic matters related to the Undergraduate Students admitted to the BTech, Dual Degree and Integrated MTech programmes.

The Section handles all activities related to the registration of the students, exam support functions, grading & graduation, change of discipline, summer programmes, self study, exchange studentship, casual studentship, summer research fellowship room allocation, preparatory programme, handling students on probation, weak student management, issuance of transcripts, verification of credential of graduated or existing students.

The Section also takes care of the scholarships & awards of the students, merit certificates, railway and bus concession. Various certificates like character certificates, migration certificate, bonafide certificates etc. are issued by the Section.

The institute in its endeavour to strengthen the link with the alumni has set an Alumni office consisting of dedicated team of staff members headed by Dean. The alumni office is further assisted by the Alumni relations advisory committee consisting of faculty members from each department /center and students. The alumni relations office at the institute extends several facilities and services to the alumni to continue and enhance their pleasant association with the institute.

This unit's major responsibility is to interact with various industrial,management and research organisations in the country with the dual aim of ensuring that the students are given adequate technical exposure / industrial training after their 6th semester (BTech, Dual and Integrated programmes) and also enabling them to get employment in organisations whose functional requirements of high calibre engineers, scientists and managers are best met by graduate and post-graduate students of the Institute.

The major functions of this unit are:

  • To arrange practical summer training of BTech, Dual Degree and Integrated Programmes at the end of 6th semester in partial fulfilment of their degree requirements by coordinating with various companies,industries etc to provide relevant projects.
  • To invite industries and organisations of repute with the aim of providing employment to students and assisting them in the placement process on IIT Delhi campus.
  • To organise lectures and workshops for students to provide supplemental information on career counselling, interview techniques, soft skills development and introduction to industrial sectors / the professional world.

About Infrastructure

Infrastructure is the administrative unit of IIT Delhi that is responsible for planning, design and construction of new infrastructural facilities in the IITD campus including buildings, roads, walkways, overhead and underground cables, lifelines (water and gas pipelines), communication networks and power transmission systems. A more important and tedious responsibility of Infrastructure unit is the operation, maintenance, upgradation, rehabilitaion and refurbishment of existing infrastructural facilities many of which are almost 50 years old.

Accommodation in the Amaltas is provided to people like Director's of the other IIT's, Ex-Director's of IIT's , Ph.d Examiners, Selection Committee Members etc. Accommodation in Gulmohar is for faculty and officers visiting IIT Delhi for official work/ project work or for attending conference/seminar/workshop/JEE/GATE meeting etc. and at times for guests of IIT staff / parents of students.

About IITD Hospital

The multifarious medical needs of the Campus population consisting of Students, Staff members and members of their families are met by the Institute Hospital. The Hospital is headed by the Head (Hospital Services) with a team of full time Medical Officers, Visiting Specialists and Para Medical staff. The Director has also constituted a Hospital Advisory Committee with a Chairman nominated by him and members drawn from hospital and other recognized bodies of the Institute including student representatives, with the Head (Hospital Services) as the Member Secretary of the Committee. This Committee formulates various policies for providing medical facilities to the Campus population.roads, walkways, overhead and underground cables, lifelines (water and gas pipelines), communication networks and power transmission systems. A more important and tedious responsibility of Infrastructure unit is the operation, maintenance, upgradation, rehabilitaion and refurbishment of existing infrastructural facilities many of which are almost 50 years old.

The Institute Hospital has facilities for OPD treatment in almost all branches of medicine with facilities for pathological/radiological investigations and in addition has a dental and physiotherapy wing. It also has adequate facilities, both infrastructure and expertise wise for all types of minor operations. Facilities for both surgical and medical cases exist with 12 beds.

In Compliance with the Official Languages Policy of Govt of India, the Official Languages Act., 1963 and the Official Languages Rules, 1976, Hindi Cell was established on 30th December 1981 vide BOG Resolution No. 37/81 with the following objectives:

  • To implement Official Languages Policy, and compliance of provisions of Official Languages, Act., 1963 and Rule 1976 in the Institute. To achieve this goal Official Languages Implementation Committee(OLIC) was constituted in the year 1985, which meets in every quarter and takes decision on policy matters and review the progress of Rajbhasha Implementation in the Institute. Accordingly, Hindi Cell takes follow up actions. This include achieving the targets of Annual Programme for transacting the Official work of the Union in Hindi, to organize Hindi day/Fortnight, to monitor internal progress of the Institute regarding use of Hindi, submitting quarterly progress report, preparation for inspections by Ministry of Education, Ministry of Home Affairs and Parliamentary Committee on Official Languages.
  • Translation work of Annual Report, Annual Accounts, Prospectus, Convocation related work and all other circulars/orders/Official correspondences as and when required.
  • Publication of 'Sampark' fortnightly news Bulletin & 'Jigyasa'- Hindi Science Journal(Annual).
  • Trainings/Workshops/Seminars, etc:
    • To organize Hindi Typing/Tarnslation/Language training/workshops for staff members to motivate/promote them to perform their Official work in Hindi.

Legal Cell deals with the court cases and legal matters pertaining to the Institute. It coordinates between the Institute and the Institute counsels in handling the court cases. It also coordinates between the various Departments/Centres/Sections and Legal Advisor for obtaining advice on legal issues in day today working of the Institute.

Sports and games are essential components of human development, helping to promote good health and spirit of healthy competition, which, in turn, has positive and deep impact on the holistic development of personality of the Youth- a potential source of energy, enthusiasm and inspiration. Sports office, headed by Sports Officer with a team of other physical education staff, part time coaches and grounds men had been looking after this important component for the development of sports environment in the campus.

The Institute lays considerable emphasis on student’s participation in various outdoor and indoor games. With participation in these activities, students are able to use their leisure time in a fruitful manner. The students take part in the Fresher’s event for incoming first year students, friendly matches with the local colleges, inter-hostel events, annual IIT Delhi Inter Collegiate event Sportech, National Sports Organization (NSO) and the annual Inter IIT Sports Meet. Regular participation in these activities not only improve the general physical fitness level of the students but also helps in developing psychological attributes like leadership qualities, stress management and group dynamics.
